As a blonde person, I know that there are many, many shades in the blonde spectrum. Platinum, honey, ash, wheat, vanilla, caramel, Barbie … the list goes on and on and on. Kim Kardashian, who is no stranger to a blonde transformation, just hit the red carpet in a chameleonic color that defies any one catchy trend name.

Kardashian attended the 2023 GQ Men of the Year celebration in Los Angeles on November 17, and instead of wearing her cover look of slicked-back hair and short nails, she debuted a new shade of blonde that encompasses all the shades, depending on how you look at it. In some lights, the color looks like a classic warm honey-caramel — a hue Kardashian has worn many times in the past. (Her 2013 blonde is still my fave.) From another angle, though, the tone is far ashier, almost a dark beige blonde. Under a certain light, it morphs into a light brown. Her roots are still dark, too, which adds yet another hue to this cornucopia of colors. “Blonde” is an umbrella term, and Kardashian’s shade manages to pack in the whole rainbow; it’s fun to see her experiment with darker tones versus her usual icy, bright platinum, and the mingling tones look gorgeous with her skin and eyes.
