It’s October, and that means Halloween will be here any day now, so my mind has officially been set to spooky mode. That’s likely why the moment I saw Shay Mitchell‘s new dark manicure, I thought they looked like the color of blood.
Mitchell and her crimson manicure arrived at the Louis Vuitton Womenswear Spring/Summer 2023 show on October 2. For the show, she wore a black leather dress with matching boots that nearly looked the same color as her oval nails because their color is a red so dark, it could pass as black at first glance.
Los Angeles-based nail artist Jenny (yes, just Jenny) filed and painted Mitchell’s oval tips. She shared a video of the finished nails on her Instagram where you can see that the nail polish looks like a muted burgundy or eggplant color, but Jenny didn’t share what exact polish she used.
We think the Best of Beauty-winning Essie UnGuilty Pleasures Nail Polish in No To-Do looks similar to Mitchell’s nail polish. Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel Nail Polish in Cabernet with Bae and OPI Nail Lacquer in O Suzi Mio are also great alternatives.
