With fall here, it’s officially Black girl ginger season. Plenty of folks have been waiting for the cooler temperatures and the pumpkin spice lattes to make their reappearances before committing to red hair — looks like Issa Rae is one of them. The Insecure creator and actor stepped out with voluminous red curls at the Chloé Womenswear Spring/Summer 2024 show, held on September 28.
Rae arrived at the Paris Fashion Week event looking stunning in an off-the-shoulder black and white gown paired with hair slicked into a high ponytail. I see slicked-back styles often as anyone who writes about celebrity beauty for a living, and this is without a doubt one of the slickest I’ve ever seen. I’m sure if I took a microscope to her head, I wouldn’t even see a millimeter of hair sticking out.

Her roots are still her natural brown hue, it’s just the high ponytail that’s red. From the base, which was wrapped with hair, reddish zig-zags rippled towards her lower back. Rae chose a deep auburn hue.
(This is far from Rae’s her first foray with red hair, by the way. Before folks knew her from the show Insecure, she had a short ‘fro dyed dark red, which even made an appearance on the cover of her book The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl.)
