For her first Golden Globe Award ceremony, Jenna Ortega relinquished her usual dark hues for a smoky rose-colored Gucci gown with head-to-toe pleats and an alluring eye makeup look with white eyeliner placed along her bottom lash line.

The 80th Annual Golden Globes kicked off award season on January 10, proving to be just the right scenario for Ortega to flip the script and show up in the least Wednesday Addams-like look one can associate her with to date. The actor arrived with a nomination for Best Television Actress in a Musical or Comedy Series for her performance on Wednesday, alongside the nomination the show itself received for Best Television Series in the Musical or Comedy category.

Actors’ red-carpet beauty is often inspired by Hollywood staples of the past. In this instance, makeup artist Vincent Oquendo revealed that his touches of dramatic mascara along with the brightened waterline and white eye shadow atop her eyeliner wing were meant to channel Sophia Loren, the legendary Italian actress.

Ortega’s softly tousled wolf cut was all her, though. Hairstylist David Stanwell styled the tips of her hair flared out with her bangs parted down the middle and splayed to the sides, with most of the volume sitting at the crown. On her medium, almond-shaped nails, retro white and beige swirls by nail artist Thuy Nguyen followed a different direction on each digit.
