Braids are the ultimate vacation hairstyle for Black folks. Whether it’s cornrows, box braids, or a mix of the two, braided hairstyles are a convenient protective style when you’re trying not to worry about your hair looking together while on vacation. Gabrielle Union‘s latest hairstyle is a perfect example of this; she wore wavy bohemian box braids to the beach.
On April 13, Union posted an Instagram carousel of her family’s beach trip where you can see her braided hair from a few angles. In the very first photo, we see Union’s back as she’s walking toward the ocean. The very tips of her gorgeous textured braids touched her mid-back area.
The second slide features a video of Union and her husband, Dwyane Wade, and we see her box braids from the front. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a close-up image of this braided hairstyle, but what we can confirm is that these braids were on the smaller end and layered. Both in the first photo and video you can spot the shorter braids and light layers. These braids also seem to get most of their texture from the curly ends.
