Some people want to age “like fine wine.” I, on the other hand, am trying to age like Gabrielle Union. Folks have long joked that the actor is aging backward, but besides her eternally youthful energy, each year she looks even more radiant and happier. And in her latest look, she’s as glowy as ever with frosted blue eye makeup and box braids piled into a sky-high bun.
Union is living her best life on a girls’ trip in London at the moment. The look I’m obsessing over was posted by makeup artist Esther Edeme on July 23. Edeme created this frosty blue eye makeup using shadows from Isamaya Beauty, likely the Wild Out Palette. To enhance Union’s lashes, Edeme used wispy falsies from Doll Beauty. Edeme buffed a healthy dose of pink blush all over Union’s cheekbones and the apples of her cheeks. She finished the look with a pink nude gloss and brown liner.
But back to the topic at hand: her hair. Hairstylist Seraiah twisted Union’s lengthy goddess box braids into a gravity-defying bun, or a “sky-high ninja bun,” as she dubbed it in her own Instagram post. The bun was so ridiculously high that you can’t even see its tip in the first photo of Edeme’s post. Seraiah left one braid out on either side of Union’s head. She also slicked Union’s baby hairs along her hairline.
