When clean beauty brand Saie launched its Glowy Super Gel, I became obsessed with creating a dewy complexion. Before that, I’d been a matte girl for as long as I can remember, so this multi-use highlighter changed the way I do my makeup. For me, the only thing missing from the Super Gel is coverage. I wanted that glow with skin-care benefits, but in foundation form — too much to ask? Maybe, but Saie finally delivered with the launch of Saie Glowy Super Skin Weightless Hydrobounce Serum Foundation, my new go-to base product.

Now, I know what you’re thinking. Since most makeup brands are and have been launching dewy-finish foundations, you may be wondering what makes this one different than the other ones on the market. The answer is simple: Saie’s Glowy Super Skin is more than just a glowy base. According to cosmetic chemist Ginger King, the ingredients are all about calming, moisturizing, and brightening the skin. “This formula contains a few moisturizing ingredients like marshmallow root extract, sodium hyaluronate, and squalane,” says King. As for the glowy, dewy finish, King attributes that to mica and the alma gooseberry extract, a skin-brightening ingredient that contains high levels of vitamin C.
While the ingredients all sound great, how does it wear? For primer, I put on my trusty The Inkey List Polyglutamic Acid Dewy Sunscreen SPF 30. Normally I apply my foundations with a Beautyblender, but I decided to give Saie’s The Base Brush a try. I dispensed two pumps onto the brush and began to buff it into my skin. The formula melted into my skin and left a medium-to-full coverage finish.
Despite having the word serum in its name, this foundation evened out my skin tone and covered any hyperpigmentation and blemishes as well as any full-coverage foundation would. Unlike others, this one didn’t feel heavy or look cakey on my skin. It almost felt like a tinted moisturizer, making my skin look like my skin, just filtered. As for the glow, it was unreal. As you can see in the photo, I’m not even wearing a highlighter. I just topped the foundation with some concealer and bronzer for added dimension.
