Major beauty moments usually involve colorful, unobstructed views of the beheld’s hair, makeup, or nails — or all three. So the fact — yes, I said fact — that Beyoncé‘s new Vogue France cover is the major beauty moment of 2023 despite being in black and white and her hair being totally hidden just goes to show how powerful she is. (Are you even surprised?)

The stunning cover photo is one of many shots taken to celebrate her album, Renaissance, in fashion form. Beyoncé collaborated with Balmain’s Olivier Rousteing to reimagine the music masterpiece as couture, and the pair did not disappoint. But even if you don’t dive into the 16 stunning looks, your thirst for beauty brilliance will be easily quenched by the cover, shot by photographer Louie Banks.

Although we can’t see the colors makeup artists Rokael and Holly Silius used, we can tell that she bestowed Beyoncé with a glam eye, matte lips, and foundation sheer enough to let some freckles peek through. Nail artist Yoko Sakakura gave the icon long, almond-shaped nails with a chrome finish that complements the shine of the giant rhinestones on her dress. And although we can’t see her hair under her Marni Senofonte-styled hood and hat, two hairstylists — Neal Farinah and Jawara Wauchope — are credited.

“Thank you @olivier_rousteing and @balmain for bringing RENAISSANCE to life in couture. Designing alongside you was freeing — thank you for allowing me to celebrate the human form, to take artistic risks, to push boundaries and to freely express myself,” Beyoncé wrote in the caption of her Instagram post about the shoot. “To the @voguefrance team, thank you for trusting in our vision and sharing it with the world.”
