I count several hairstylists among my friends, and more often than not, I was a client before becoming a confidant. But the relationship between Kim Kardashian and her long-time stylist Chris Appleton is a next-level client-to-friend evolution, as evidenced by the role she played at his wedding to White Lotus actor Lukas Gage: not a guest, not a groomswoman, but the officiant.

We already knew Kardashian is a multi-hyphenate, with her entrepreneurship, reality-show fame, attorney journey, and foray into acting with the upcoming season of American Horror Story. But somewhere along the way (or maybe even last week), she must have gotten ordained as a minister, too. (Did she do the whole Universal Life Church thing? We have questions.)

On Wednesday, April 26, Appleton posted photos from what appeared to be a small ceremony. Karadashian is featured in several pictures with the couple, including one that shows her reading from a paper between the grooms in a room with white walls, white floor tiles, white flowers, and white satin drapes.

Kardashian being the officiant wasn’t the only nontraditional aspect of the wedding. The grooms were just not unlike I was for one of my sorority theme parties in 1999 — leather pants, faux fur coats, animal prints, and extra-long necklaces. And speaking of the late ‘90s, while many newlywed couples have danced their first dance to Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One,” Twain herself made an appearance to serenade the couple her 1997 hit song. (I hope she threw in “From This Moment On,” too — a wedding classic!)
