Tahar Rahim is the latest the join the cast of the Madame Web film led by Dakota Johnson.

Sony continues to expand its Spider-Man adjacent universe following the poor box office performance of Morbius. Kraven the Hunter starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson is currently filming in the United Kingdom as Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web gears up for its shoot. With casting underway for Madame Web, Deadline reports that Tahar Rahim is the latest name to join the film. There are no details on who Rahim will play.

Madame’s Web Grows

Tahar Rahim’s most recognizable roles come in The Servent, A Prophet, and The Mauritanian. Rahim joins Madame Web after filming Ridley Scott’s Napoleon starring Joaquin Phoenix.

In addition to Tahar Rahim, Madame Web will star Dakota Johnson in the lead role, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced. S.J. Clarkson will direct Madame Web from a script penned by Matt Sazama, Burk Sharpless, and Kerem Sanga.

Here is the synopsis for Sony’s latest Marvel film, Morbius:

One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar® winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero, Michael Morbius. Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder, and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. What at first appears to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed and transforms this healer into a hunter.

Directed by Daniel Espinosa from a script written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the film stars Jared Leto as the lead anti-hero, Adria Arjona, Matt Smith, Jared Harris, and Tyrese Gibson. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are producing the project with Lucas Foster, while Palak Patel will oversee for Sony.

Morbius is back in theaters, available on Digital, and will hit DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K UHD on June 14, while Madame Web will hit theaters on July 7, 2023.
