Sonic The Hedgehog 2 director Jeff Fowler teases more characters from the franchise in future installments.

The Sonic The Hedgehog series features a surprisingly large number of supporting characters for an otherwise simple series. It started out with the titular character battling the evil Dr. Robotnic before Sonic 2 added Tails to the mix and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 brought in Knuckles. Later 3D installments like Sonic Adventures and Sonic Adventures 2 would further expand that cast including the likes of Shadow the Hedgehog among many others. Not it appears we may be getting of these characters in the series before too long.

A third installment has already been announced as has a Paramount Plus series revolving around Knuckles. In a recent interview with, Jeff Fowler teased the appearance of one of his favorite characters in a Sonic-related project, but did not reveal which of these projects it might be:

“I’m hesitant to go into too much detail, only because it’s obviously still very early. I will say that we are teasing a character that I’m incredibly excited about. It’s very personal to me as a fan.”
