This year marks the 40th anniversary of John Carpenter‘s horror classic The Thing, and Bloody Disgusting is planning a celebration of our own with several anniversary articles in the works. Of course, we’re not the only ones celebrating, and we’ve just learned directly from Carpenter himself that the 1982 creature feature is coming back to theaters next month!
For two days only, on June 19, 2022 and June 22, 2022, Carpenter’s The Thing heads back to the big screen courtesy of Fathom Events, and tickets are on sale right now.
“I loved making this movie, and I’m so excited that people can celebrate it and see it in theaters 40 years later,” Carpenter said in a video posted to Twitter this afternoon.
Featuring jaw-dropping practical effects from Rob Bottin, The Thing starred Kurt Russell, Keith David, and Wilford Brimley, unleashing a monstrous nightmare at Outpost 31.
In the film based on John W. Campbell Jr’s short story, “A research team in Antarctica is hunted by a shape-shifting alien that assumes the appearance of its victims.”
