Like the Man of Steel himself, Superman’s cinematic future is up in the air right now, and one concept design pitches Jacob Elordi of Euphoria as a replacement for Henry Cavill’s Kal-El.

Following Warner Bros.’ merger with Discovery, there has been much talk around an impending shakeup of DC Films. While such reports can be little worrying for DC fans, it’s all probably a good sign for fans of Superman. David Zaslav reportedly wants to “revitalize” the Man of Tomorrow, who he feels has been “left to languish” in recent years. While Henry Cavill has proved a popular Superman with many fans, this could open the door to someone new taking on the role.

Jacob Elordi, who plays Nate Jacobs in Euphoria, is one of the names that has been thrown around by fans as a potential new Superman. As the new concept design reveals, he certainly has the right look.

With it believed The Flash will have major implications for the future of the DCEU, drawing on the Flashpoint storyline, which saw DC’s comic continuity rebooted, there’s a possibility DC could be looking to recast some of their major characters soon. While Henry Cavill himself has proved popular with fans, there have been complaints over Zack Snyder’s overly moody interpretation of the character. If Warner Bros. is looking to revitalize Supes and restore him to his former glory, a new actor could help mark a fresh start for the iconic hero.

This concept design imagines a younger, fresh-faced Superman played by Jacob Elordi. The costume actually draws influence from concept art for J.J. Abrams’ unmade Superman: Flyby, adopting a look that is closer to the Man of Steel’s classic comic book appearance, albeit with a slight modern touch. Not only would this casting be a change of pace for Superman, it would be a very different role for Jacob Elordi after his work on Euphoria, where his character Nate Jacobs is one of the show’s most despised antagonists.

Superman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Here is the synopsis:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
