All hail the queen of bobs, Lucy Hale. We’ve been crushing on the myriad ways she’s sported the haircut over the years and the many color transformations (always done by her longtime hairstylist and colorist Kristen Ess) it’s gone through. Ess made her an honorary redhead from her kitchen, given her soft highlights, and even dyed it in golden and “honey lemon” blonde. In March, the actor added a set of curtain bangs to her look, which, we noticed, was a departure from her typically fringe-less coif.
She’s certainly having fun with this new cut, as evidenced by an image she shared to her Instagram grid on April 3. In it, she’s pictured dressed for a night out — a retro one, at that. The actor is clad in a shin-length camel-colored leather-look jacket, complete with a furry trim and peeptoe platform sandals. It definitely gives off the ’70s vibe, but the hairstyle she’s wearing with it takes it to a whole ‘nother level.
Hale’s hair is blown out in a Farrah Fawcett-esque outward flip. The style gained a ton of popularity on TikTok, which was brimming with tutorials demonstrating how to achieve it. It is truly the icing on the cake — in this case, the cake was made for America’s bicentennial. Her bronde bob is curled tight. Typically, with these styles, the curl is a little looser, but we love the effect it gives off here. She looks like the love interest cool-girl-next-door in a ’70s sitcom and we adore it. She complemented the overall look with soft makeup — full brows, cheeks dusted with peach blush, and a nude pink lip.
Now if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be dusting off our blow-dryers and grabbing a round brush to copy this groovy look at home.
