When does Cardi B ever miss with her hair moments? The answer is never. Especially when the Bronx-born rapper teams up with hairstylist Tokyo Stylez. The duo consistently serve up memorable cuts, colors, and styles that have solidified Cardi’s status as a beauty icon. I mean, just name a shade, and Cardi B has probably worn a wig in that color. And she happens to pull off some of the wildest styles, like the one that combined a mullet, uneven bangs, and extra-long sideburns. Today, we’re obsessing over her latest style: a merlot-colored coif that reminds us of Pamela Anderson’s signature updo.

The Baywatch star’s iconic ’90s hairstyle has been going viral on TikTok with users attempting to create the look. If you’re unfamiliar with Anderson’s signature coif, let me break it down: It’s a messy bun piled high, with some well-placed tendrils peeking out on the sides. The look is completed with wispy curtain bangs

Cardi B is rocking a similar style, but instead of golden blonde, hers is a deep burgundy color that looks like red wine — the expensive kind. Stylez gave her a ton of curls, some of which are falling out of the bun, creating that tousled look. Instead of curtain bangs, Stylez parted the hair on the side and curled the very front, creating a faux side bang with the long pieces of hair. On the other side, she added a loose, face-framing curl. The look is finished with a few slicked-down baby hairs

There’s no indication from either Stylez or Cardi B that this look was inspired by Anderson, but dang it, we can’t help but notice how similar they are. Cardi herself has worn several ’90s-inspired styles, like the updo she wore for 2020’s “WAP,” with its sculptural, crispy curls perched at the very peak of her crown. One thing we do know? Cardi hit this look out of the park.
