Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness gets an official runtime.

Marvel Studios’ highly-anticipated new film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looks to be the most perilous adventure any Avenger has ever embarked on in a standalone film. Benedict Cumberbatch returns as Stephen Strange, whom after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home deals with the frightening realities of the Multiverse, which has unleashed.

Given the epic nature of the film’s story, especially based on the incredible footage we have seen from the numerous trailers, some have expected Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness to be one of Marvel Studios’ longest films to date. However, it turns out that the Benedict Cumberbatch film may be a bit shorter than some have expected. According to Fandango, the film clocks in at 126 minutes:

Although this runtime is longer than the original film, which was 115 minutes, some expected this film to be on the longer side, perhaps at least nearing the 150 minute mark. Hopefully, this signifies that Sam Raimi has a lean film that doesn’t need to be explained with too much exposition just to elongate the runtime further.

Here is the synopsis for the film:

The MCU unlocks the Multiverse and pushes its boundaries further than ever before. Journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange, who, with the help of mystical allies both old and new, traverses the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary.

Directed by Sam Raimi from a script written by Michael Waldron, the upcoming movie stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Xochitl Gomez, with Michael Stuhlbarg, and Rachel McAdams.
