Alan Moore’s The League of Extraordinary Gentleman will receive a new film reboot.

The Wrap is reporting that Alan Moore‘s comic book series, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman is getting another film adaptation. Justin Haythe, writer of A Cure for Wellness and Red Sparrow will pen the script, while Don Murphy, Susan Montford, and Erwins Stoff are set to produce the film.

20th Century Studios’ new reboot of The League of Extraordinary Gentleman will hopefully launch a new film series. Much like other upcoming releases, the new adaptation of Alan Moore‘s comic book series will either premiere in theaters, or stream exclusively on Hulu.

In 2003, a film adaptation for Alan Moore’s comic book series was released. It was directed by Stephen Norrington and starred Sean Connery (in his last live-action film role), Shane West, Stuart Townsend, Peta Wilson, Tony Curran, Jason Flemyng, and Naseeruddin Shah. The film received negative reviews from critics, with a Rotten Tomatoes approval rating of an abysmal 17%. The film was also a modest success at the box office, grossing $179 million in theaters worldwide on a production budget of $78 million.

This reboot will be the latest Alan Moore property to receive a second live-action adaptation. Recently, Watchmen was adapted into a live-action series for HBO by Damon Lindelof. The series was critically acclaimed, winning 11 Emmy’s including Best Limited Series. Here is the synopsis for the show:

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, WATCHMEN embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.

Watchmen stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk. The series is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television, based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and published by DC.

Watchmen is available to stream on HBO Max. Be sure to continue following Heroic Hollywood for all the latest news on Alan Moore’s comic book series receiving adaptations for film and TV, and be sure to subscribe to ourYouTube channel for more original video content.
